TITLE: Transportation Operations and Routing Supervisor
STATUS/FLSA: Full-time / Exempt
PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP: DISTRICT LEVEL
DIRECT REPORTS: Full-time: 58 assigned drivers
SUPERVISOR: Director of Transportation
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 Days. Salary determined by schedule set by the Board.
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Director of Transportation.

GENERAL
DESCRIPTION
|
The purpose of this classification is to manage bus operations, providing safe and efficient transportation through program supervision to provide students the fullest possible advantage from the District’s curriculum and extra-curricular program. Responsible for overseeing communications regarding bus discipline and safety with school administration and parents.

EDUCATION
|
Completion of high school/GED. Education may be substituted for experience.
|
EXPERIENCE
|
5 years. Experience may be substituted for education.
|

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS
|
REQUIRED: Commercial Driver’s License with proper endorsements.
PREFERRED: None.

ESSENTIAL
DUTIES

- Supervise daily operations of drivers, passengers, and bus routes.
- Assign buses and drivers, and adjust and manage route and schedule issues.
- Supervise daily operations of video cameras, child safety alarms, tracking systems, and radios to include servicing as required.
- Assist drivers in promoting and enforcing good passenger conduct according to guidelines.
- Inspect buses regularly for cleanliness and maintain records of inspection.
- Produce route maps and conduct safety checks of bus stops.
- Ensure timecard submission and accuracy; generate and distribute reports as needed.
- Recruit and interviews new drivers; assist with drug and alcohol testing.
- Assist with maintenance, safety awareness, and staff development programs.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to discipline appropriately; Knowledge of District policies and procedures; Ability to guide others; Good organizational and interpersonal skills; Ability to recruit, supervise and train personnel; Knowledge of fleet operations; Basic computer knowledge.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USAGE

Use computers for data entry; or handle, use, or repair hand-held power equipment or light machinery; Use computers for word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations or custom applications; Supervise the activities of those operating or repairing complex machinery or technology systems.
