TITLE: ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONIST 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:   Current South Carolina Teacher Certification

 

Certification in ELA, Math, Elementary or other comparable area

                                                

Proficient Technology Skills

REPORTS TO:  Principal

  

JOB GOAL:  To provide strategies for teaching and supporting students in Math/ELA skills.

                                               

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Facilitates the school’s intervention program. 

  2. Collaborates with teachers individually to identify the needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in Mathematics and ELA.

  3. Co-Teach or provide supplemental instruction.
  4. Assists teachers with the collection of data, analysis of data results and supports the sharing of findings with staff/administration.

  5. Reviews student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services.

  6. Teaches targeted intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources.

  7. Assists students using software and materials related to programs.

  8. Meets regularly with the classroom teacher to plan Math/ELA instruction that correlates with the individual student’s needs or as requested by the classroom teacher.

  9. Attends professional development to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content, especially math and language arts literacy.

  10. Maintains and submits accurate and up-to-date management records of all students’ progress.

  11. Maintains confidentiality concerning student records.

  12. Attends professional development sessions.

  13. Performs other duties and responsibilities related to teaching as assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; knowledge of general office procdures and protocols; kills and ability work with educational technology such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Outlook; ability to operate basic office equipment; ability to maintain a professional, positive attitude with students, parents, and staff; good organizational and planning skills; knowledge and ability to understand and communicate effectively with students of various ages; ability to maintain accurate records; ability to maintain confidentiality.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  190 days.  Salary to be determined by the salary schedule established
by the Board of Trustees.
