SPECIAL EDUCATION PART-TIME HOMEBOUND INSTRUCTOR (3 - 5 Hours Weekly/ $15 Per Hour)
POSITION PURPOSE: Anderson School District Five seeks persons to serve as a Homebound Assistant. This position will provide educational services to a student placed on Medical Homebound. This employee is responsible for implementing an instructional program created by a certified teacher to meet the needs of a student who is unable to attend school for medical reasons.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works with the student’s teachers and the Executive Director of Non-Traditional Programs to identify the educational needs and the physical and learning capabilities of the assigned student.
- Meet with the assigned student on a regularly scheduled basis to provide instruction.
- Implement, with the advice of the student's regular teacher or teachers, an instructional program for the assigned student receiving homebound instruction.
- Provide a learning environment that meets the needs of a student with special needs.
- Deliver instructional strategies that contribute to a climate where the student is actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Complete and provide a report of instructional hours logged to the Executive Director of Non-Traditional Programs.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of Non-Traditional Programs or other District Office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to provide learning experiences within the home environment.
- Broad knowledge of curriculum/instruction.
- Basic understanding and knowledge of the use of current technology.
- Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
- Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that the student has a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.
- Skills in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others as required.
EXPERIENCE:
No specific prior experience or degrees are needed.
