POSITION OVERVIEW
TITLE: OFFICE CLERK/RECEPTIONIST
STATUS/FLSA: PART-time / Non-Exempt
PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP: ASSISTANTS/CLERKS/MISC /
DIRECT REPORTS: Full-time: ( 0 ); Part-time (0 )
SUPERVISOR: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 Days. 5 hours per day, $10 per hour. Salary is determined by the schedule set by the Board.
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Principal.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to assist the school and the public with communications and public relations for a positive, effective operation of the school. Responsible for ensuring confidentiality regarding student and employment information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1) Answer incoming telephone calls, determine the purpose of calls, and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department.
2) Maintain visitors’ sign-in/-out rosters, and distribute visitor passes; assist parents locate students for sign-outs.
3) Direct students in early dismissals and appointments with principals and other personnel; maintain documentation of early releases.
4) Direct substitute teachers to assigned classrooms, and collaborate with teachers for class coverage in the absence of substitutes.
5) Assist students, staff, and the public with inquiries.
6) Perform clerical duties, maintain office equipment, and assist with new student enrollments as required.
7) Make daily announcements.
8) Maintain records for student attendance; update student tardiness in Plascotrac; enter student excuses for absences; update discipline and suspension data.
9) Check emails frequently and respond to or forward them accordingly.
10) Receive, sort, and route mail; maintain and route publications.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all-inclusive. There will be other duties as assigned.
- Assist with Fire Drills.
- Maintain awareness of teachers’ locations throughout the day.
- Record status for student field trips.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USAGE
Use computers for data entry, or use hand-held power equipment or light machinery.
EDUCATION: Completion of high school/GED. Education may be substituted for experience.
EXPERIENCE: 2 years. Experience may be substituted for education.
