TITLE: Lead of Athletic Grounds

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240. Salary determined by schedule set by the Board.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to provide a safe and professional learning enviroment for students and staff, and to oversee and supervise the work of District grounds personnel. Responsible for maintaining equipment, vehicles, fields, and grounds districtwide.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1) Maintain athletic fields and band fields.
2) Ability to lead other athletic grounds personnel.
3) Paint lines on athletic fields prior to athletic games and attend athletic events to assist as needed.
4) Ensure athletic fields are properly marked.
5) Oversee and maintain irrigation systems.
6) Exterminate and maintain weed control on athletic fields and band fields.
7) Maintain proper operation of equipment and repair as needed.
8) Assist other equipment operators and grounds personnel as needed.
9) Maintain accountability of tools and equipment.
10) Be available for emergency or unplanned events that may transpire during the course of a school year.
11) Ability to pressure wash and maintain the exterior of all facilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of maintenance equipment, installation, and general landscaping; Knowledge of school grounds, rules, regulations, and procedures; Ability to communicate and relate effectively to others orally and in writing; Ability to conduct precise measurements; Good interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of various athletics and related landscape and set-up needs; Ability to follow work orders and work with minimum supervision. Knowledge of athletic field measurements; Knowledge of landscaping techniques; Knowledge in fertilizing and extermination; Basic computer knowledge.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USAGE
Use computers for data entry; or handle, use, or repair hand-held power equipment or light machinery; Use computers for word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations or custom applications or operate; Supervise the activities of those operating or repairing complex machinery or technology systems.
EDUCATION: Completion of high school/GED. Education may be substituted for experience.
EXPERIENCE: Experience may be substituted for education. Experience with landscaping, athletic turf maintenance, and grounds preferred.
LICENSES: REQUIRED: Valid Driver’s license.
CERTIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Herbicide/Pesticide Certification. Landscaping certifications.

LIFTING: Up to 10lbs of the time; Up to 25lbs of the time; Up to 50lbs of the time; Up to 100lbs of the time; More than 100lbs of the time.
VISION REQUIREMENTS
Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
