TITLE: ACE Academy Teaching Assistant - Elementary
STATUS/FLSA: Full-time / Non-Exempt
PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP: Teaching Assistant

SUPERVISOR: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 182 Days. Salary determined by schedule set by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance evaluated by the Principal.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to assist the teacher in providing a classroom environment in which students can benefit from the instructional program, and to assist with the creation of lesson plans, preparation of displays and bulletin boards, and maintain supplies needed in the classroom. Responsible for assisting students individually or collectively with work assignments. ACE Academy is the District 5 Alternative School. This position serves the elementary portion of the program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive. There will be other duties as assigned.
- Prepare for and assist with classroom activities under teacher supervision.
- Work with students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
- Provide assistance to students individually, based on their needs.
- Perform clerical duties including data entry, filing, report creation, and transfer processing.
- Guide independent study, remedial, and enrichment work assigned by teacher.
- Assist students in utilizing technology.
- Assist teacher with non-instructional classroom duties such as breakfast, lunch and clean-up.
- Assist in preparing class displays, bulletin boards, and other visual aids.
- Assist teacher with supervision on playgrounds, cafeteria, and bus loading.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records, data, and personal information.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Assist with supervision during related arts.
- Utilize planning time in the classroom.
- Participate in staff development programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of District operations, services, and policies; Skills and ability to instruct students in science and social studies; Ability to work in teams and individually; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Good interpersonal skills; Ability to guide others; Knowledge of requirements mandated by No Child Left Behind Legislation.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USAGE
Use computers for data entry. Use computers for word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations or custom applications.
EDUCATION: Completion of high school/GED.
EXPERIENCE: No experience required.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATION: REQUIRED - Paraprofessional Assessment; PREFERED - none
