SUPERVISOR: Executive Director of Special Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 Days. Salary is determined by the schedule set by the Board.
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Executive Director of Special Education.

GENERAL
DESCRIPTION
|
We are seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy secretary to provide essential clerical and administrative support for our Special Education department within the school district. This position will require proficiency in technology-specific software and the ability to manage data points effectively. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting instructional programs within the department, managing budget and supplies, coordinating professional development, and offering technical assistance for District and State -approved instructional software.

EDUCATION
|
Completion of high school/GED. Some college education is preferred. Education may be substituted for experience.

EXPERIENCE
|
3 years min. w/ data and secretarial work.

ESSENTIAL
DUTIES
Essential job duties are intended to be examples of tasks and are not all-inclusive. There will be other duties assigned.
|
- Monitor and enter information into state and district compliance, instructional, and Medicaid database systems.
- Produce and analyze database reports to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Monitor all special education budget accounts, produce monthly reports on revenue and expenditures.
- Enter all purchase order requisitions and pay all special education invoices, across all special education accounts.
- Distribute and receive student records for assigned schools and the Special Education Department.
- Monitor and process time sheets for temporary special education staff and homebased instructors.
- Assist assigned schools and the public on a daily basis via telephone and email regarding all Special Education functions (database problems, needed paperwork, transportation, general questions, etc.)

ADDITIONAL
DUTIES
|
- Maintain Special Education inventory for assigned schools.
- Attend training as needed for monitoring the Special Education database systems.
- Assist with routine tasks for the District office such as rotating on/off switchboard.
- Screen calls and receive messages for the main special education phone line.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
|
Knowledge of the Special Education database systems. Knowledge of ith the policies and procedures of the District, as well as policies and procedures relative to Special Education; Ability to effectively communicate with public agencies, doctors' offices, mental health, Disabilities and Special Needs Board, Social Security Disability Determination, Department of Juvenile Justice, private schools, parents as well as other school districts in obtaining information needed to compile folders for the District. Ability to manipulate information in the school's database (PowerSchool), and Financial software (CSI). Proficient in the use of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google Suite, and required software. Ability to operate standard office equipment, strong communication skills, strong attention to detail, and accuracy in data entry and report generation.
