POSITION OVERVIEW

                      

TITLE: Executive Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Instructional Services

STATUS/FLSA:   Full-time/Exempt

PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP:  DISTRICT LEVEL 

DIRECT REPORTS: Full-time: (1); Part-time (0 )

SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  240 Days. Salary determined by schedule set by the Board.

EVALUATION: Evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 

The purpose of this classification is to provide leadership to ensure early childhood and elementary school students are provided the richest educational experience the District has to offer, and to coordinate district-wide curriculum and instructional improvement activities for elementary schools.  Responsible for providing leadership in the development of plans for monitoring programs for efficiency and effectiveness, and for providing leadership toward achieving school and District accountability and strategic goals.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of general office procedures and protocols. Knowledge of pre-K-12 curriculum, instruction and assessment; Knowledge of special education laws and procedures; Knowledge of Gifted and Talented laws and procedures; Knowledge of English as a Second Language; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations; Ability to multitask effectively; Knowledge of District policies and procedures.

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USAGE:  

 

Use computers for word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations or custom applications. Knowledge of and ability to operate basic office equipment, computers, and software applications.

EDUCATION: Completion of Master's degree preferably in administration. 

EXPERIENCE: 5 years

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS:

 

REQUIRED: SC Elementary teacher certification; SC School Administration Certification

 

PREFERRED: Elementary principal experience; Gifted and Talented Endorsement; ADEPT trained
